Measuring Instructions for Your Fauxwood Plantation Shutters
INSIDE MOUNT SHUTTERS
MEASURING FOR INSIDE MOUNT SHUTTERS (Z-FRAME OR L-FRAME)
Z-FRAME: Z-Frames are mounted around the edges of the window opening providing the look of a fully-cased window frame. Z-Frames can be installed in windows with up to a 1/2" variance between your 3 width and 3 height measurements. Make sure you have enough window depth to install the shutter.
MINIMUM DEPTH:
- 2 1/2" louvers: front tilt 1 1/8" hidden tilt 1 5/8"
- 3 1/2" louvers: front tilt 1 5/8" hidden tilt 2 1/2"
L-FRAME: Inside mount L-Frame installations in the window with variances between your 3 width and 3 height measurements will have a gap between the shutter frame and the window opening. Caulk can be used to fill the gap. If the variance is 1/2" or more, we recommend outside mount. Make sure you have enough window depth to install the shutter. The minimum depth required for an inside mount L-Frame shutter with 2 1/2" louvers is 2 1/8" with a front tilt bar & 2 5/8" with a hidden tilt bar. For 3 1/2" louvers, the minimum depth is 2 5/8" with a front tilt bar & 3" with a hidden tilt bar.
- Measure the width of the window opening in three places (top, middle, bottom) and record the smallest measurement to the nearest 1/8". If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8".

- Measure the height of the window opening in three places (left, center, right) and record the smallest measurement to the nearest 1/8". If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8".

- If the window has a sill that protrudes outside the window opening, there will be a flat bottom frame that will rest on top of the sill.
- The measurements you record are the measurements you will order. Do not make any deductions.
OUTSIDE MOUNT SHUTTERS
MEASURING FOR OUTSIDE MOUNT SHUTTERS (L-FRAME ONLY)
L-FRAME: Make sure you have at least 1 3/8" of flat space to mount the L-Frame
- Measure the width of the window frame including trim, from outside edge to outside edge, in three places (top, middle, bottom) and record the largest measurement. If rounding is necessary, round up to the nearest 1/8".

- Measure the height of the window frame including trim, from outside edge to outside edge, in three places (left, center, right) and record the largest measurement. If rounding is necessary, round up to the nearest 1/8".

- These are the dimensions you will order. Your shutters will be made to the exact measurements you specify.
